R2-D2 from the Star Wars movies.
R2 was built using a combination of plastic, resin and fiberglass. There were no found parts available to be used for this project and each component was scratch built. In this particular version, the dome is made out of fiberglass, the legs are a combination of wood and resin; while the feet are resin and vacuum formed styrene. The body is an etched sheet of styrene wrapped around an industrial grade cardboard tube with resin details.
R5-D4
R5 was built using the same techniques as R2-D2 was. This pic was taken at the Michigan Prop Party. This is my first attempt at weathering and I must say I am quite pleased and was incredibly easy.
R2-B1
My newest R2 unit is R2-B1 which was one of the queens astromechs from Episode 1. Unfortunatly this little guy got blown up pretty quickly however.
He still needs to be weathered to hell and back. Make him look like he was on top of a Naboo Starship. Besides...it hides the flaws :)
R2-B1
This is an R2 I built for a friend a couple years back. It started out that I was going to help him built it, but alas...I ended up building it.
This R2 has an aluminum dome, alumin skin, most all aluminum details, and a head full of electronics that make it light up real spiffy like.
